Staying In Flushing

Image
This last week was transfers. I am staying in Flushing and got a new companion. His name is Elder Critchlow from Sandy, Utah. He has only been out one transfer longer than myself. Last week I talked about the parents that needed to get married so they could get baptized. They were married this week so we are working to get the husband baptized. His wife is already a member. We had two baptisms this week. One was Delfino who is from Pueblo, Mexico. Delfino came to the US for a job and is sending money back to his family. He has a rough background and wanted a new start. When we met him on the street he took hold of the Gospel immediately. He is one of the elect. The other baptism is Maleek. He is a New Yorker. He was contacted on the street and we found he loves to learn. He took to the Book of Mormon and found for himself It to be true. The weather here has been colder and it snowed a little bit. Nothing like home. All is going well and I appreciate all of your prayers and support. Eld...

Hello from Flushing  If you remember from last week we had a shelter family of 4 from Venezuela. We baptized their  8 year old son this week. We had to help the parents prepare to get married as well. It is quit  the story. We had to go to the court house with them to get the document so they could get  married. They are getting married on Tuesday. Once they are married they can be baptized  which we hope will be on Tuesday as well.   We also baptized Shaheem. He was a find from a couple weeks ago. He was born in Far  Rockaway. He is one of the kindest and most humble people I have met.   The other family I spoke of which was the second generation family from Columbia had the  husband get deployed for the military. He was the religious base for the family. His wife is not  religious so they are not going to progress and we had to drop them.   This week is transfers and I will find out tomorrow (Tuesday) if I’ll be lea...

Small And Simple Things

Hola everyone, It has been a great week here in Flushing. We had seven new people come to church this week. We had a shelter family of four from Venezuela. We also had a family who is second generation Columbian. They are a family of three. We found an inactive member who’s name is Sergio. Sergio hasn’t been to church for over 20 years. He use to live in Hyrum. He lived in the trailer park and worked at the beef plant. Our branch president found his records in SLC and his records got transferred to Flushing. He came to church this week, so that is awesome. Today we went to Manhattan just to shake up the scenery. I visited the “Night of the Museum” which is actually the American Museum of Natural History. It is a lot different than in the movie but some things I recognized. We also went to the Seinfeld diner which is actually Tom’s Restaurant. It looks just like it does in the show. We went inside and there is a poster with all the actors signatures. I couldn’t pass up going to the Appl...
