First And Second Week In New York
I finally arrived in New York and it's pretty crazy here. When I flew in I saw the New York skyline and it was really cool because I've never seen it before so that was cool. Our first day we had New York Pizza and got to stay in a nice hotel and it was really nice to get a good night's rest. After that we got assigned to a trainer and our first area in the mission. I got assigned to Bridgeport, Connecticut and it is as far north as this mission goes. It takes like an 1hr 45mins to drive from Manhattan where I was, to our apartment building. My trainer is Elder Welsh and he is a really cool guy and he's from Texas. He is not a native Spanish speaker and coming into the mission he didn't know Spanish but he pretty much talks like he does now. He's been out for 14 months. First week so far has been rough just because I don't really know what I'm doing and stuff and Spanish is hard. But it's getting better everyday. For a normal day we get up and get ready for the day and study and eat breakfast. We do language study and do daily planning for the day. To find people we go to parking lots and try to talk to everyone we see. It's hard because you get a lot of people that don't like us and have swore at me and a bunch of stuff also I'm a pretty shy person so that makes it harder. Most people are really nice to us and tell us that we are doing Gods work and to keep it up. We've had the cops called on us before and kicked out of parking lots so yeah. My first Sunday here they had me give my testimony in Spanish in front of everyone and it was hard but it turned out really well. We had had a conference in the Manhattan temple and I got to ride the subways and it was crazy and the buildings their are huge so it was cool. The temple is like half temple and half a regular church building so it's pretty cool. We had a conference with the NANE area president and it was really good. We had zone conference for Christmas in the temple too and it was really good and boosted everyones joy and gave everyone encouragement. We rode subways and the subway tunnels and trains are really dirty and their is garage everywhere. The subways kindof rock back and forth more than I thought they would but they are pretty cool. Also the building in Manhattan are huge it was cool to see for the first time. It's also really cold here so it was hard coming from the México CCM to here but I'm getting used to it. We and a lesson with a guy named Walker and he speaks 100% Spanish so I coudn't teach much but I just bore my testamony about the Book of Mormon and the spirt was so strong even though my Spanish is bad so that was really awesome. We had a lesson with this family and it was really cool the spirt was super strong when we showed them the first vision video. And when we were done with the lesson him and his wife sang "Amazing grace" together to us and the husband played his guitar during it. The spirt was super strong and it was just an awesome lesson, super cool family. For Christmas we went to church and ate a bunch of food and candy. We ate a really nice members house and they even gave us a gift which was super nice of them. Anyways I want to thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers it means a lot to me. I hope that everyone has a merry Christmas! Remember to focus on Jesus Christ this Christmas and what Christmas is truly about.
Sorry that I'm not in any of the pictures I need to do better about that.
