End Of First Transfer

This transfer was longer than a normal transfer it was 7 weeks instead of 6. My Spanish has improved since I first got here but i still have a ways to go but it's fine. My companion is leaving to Burmuda so I am going to get a new companion to finish out my training for this second transfer. This transfer has been tough but a really good learning experience for me and I have noticed how much I have grown in only a month and a half. The ward had an activity about Lehi's vision in the Book of Mormon and the ward cut down a tree and put it in the gym at the church so it was cool. Me and my companion played parts in it. He was Nephi and I was Lemuel. It was fun to do and bond with the ward members. This past week has been hard for me and my companion for finding people to teach but God saw our efforts and we had a miracle yesterday. So a guy we taught really liked the gospel and the restoration and even passed his baptism interview. But he had friends going to another church so we couldn't baptize him because he has to come church twice to be eligible for baptism and he had only come once. So we stopped teaching him because he wouldn't come to church. And yesterday after two weeks of not teaching him or hearing from him he called us out of the blue on Sunday morning and said he was ready to come to church. And what is even cooler is that a non-active member gave him a ride to church so he is now reactivated. But what's even cooler is that after church my companion told the guy who now has come to church twice is eligible for baptism. My companion said he was leaving soon and probably wouldn't come back. We asked him if he would like to baptized soon and he said, yeah let's do it today. So at 6:00pm after church on Sunday he got baptized and confirmed. God totally blessed us with this miracle so me and my companion were so happy and it's my first baptism on the mission. His name is Walther and he already has a strong testimony of the gospel. The ward is super awesome as welcomed him in like family so its awesome. Im getting a new companion is Elder Truman and I'm excited to get started and back in the groove. Time has been moving quickly because we are pretty busy all the time so not a lot of downtime so I'm surprised that I've been out for 3 months already. I really appreciate all the prayers and thoughts for me! Thanks and love you all!

Greeting from the Bronx. It has been a busy couple weeks. I am starting to get use to the area. The hardest thing to get use to is how there are pockets of people. In Flushing it was mostly Chinese people. The Bronx is mostly Dominicans. It is really interesting how people gather in pockets to different boroughs. I have been on a few travels the last few weeks. I spent some time in Manhattan last week and today I went to a Yankees game. The missionaries here are treated well. The Spanish people are glad to hear about the Gospel. I would explain it as, they love God and are glad to hear more about Christ. It’s the commitment that is the struggle. They make a lot of excuses like, it’s ok, I have Jesus in my heart.  The missionary work here is the same as my other areas. We do all street contacts. Mindful

Hola from the Bronx. It’s been a few weeks. All is going well. I just wanted to check in where it’s been a while. There is honestly nothing new or too excited going on here. We did have a baptism last Sunday which is awesome. It was Sister Yudelky I talked about in my last email who was sick and postponed her baptism. We were able to get it scheduled and taken care of (picture below). We have been doing more street contacting and have a couple people who I believe will get baptized in the next week or two. I have faith we will keep finding people who are ready. Weather here has cooled a little. The highs are in the 80’s which makes it a lot more pleasant to be on the streets. We have had a few rainy days lately. Having said the weather isn’t to bad, the Bronx is still not the place to visit or plan a vacation. I have been studying how everything testifies of God. Last Transfer

Hola everyone. All is well in the Bronx. Having said that I’m in the Bronx, means I stayed here for my last transfer. It is crazy to think I am in last area. Remember though, I am staying two extra weeks. I don’t know if I will move my last two weeks for a trio. I guess I could have one two week transfer, but officially this is my last. We had a mission tour last week. This is when a General Authority comes and tours the mission, gives devotionals and meets the missionaries. Elder and Sister Daines from the Seventy came and gave two separate devotionals because of the size of the mission. Elder Daines spoke about covenants and baptism. He focused on teaching how the Savior would. It was good to remember and refocus on why we are missionaries. I have zone conference this week and I get to hear from President and Sister Taylor.
