Soaking New York

Greeting from soggy NY,

It has been a wet week. You may have seen the state of emergency that was declared in New

York. It was quit the flood event. The skies opened up and wow, did it rain. The water filled the

subways and streets. We drove around and tried to keep our car doors above water. Where we

live wasn’t too bad, but other areas really got hit.

It rained 8 inches in a few hours. The most rain ever recorded in one day in New York. It was

raining at a rate of 2.5 inches per hour at JFK airport which is close to my apartment.

When it was raining so hard, we didn’t really go out. We made phone calls all day. The rest of

the week we did the regular street contacting.

I watched conference at our church on the fourth floor of the office building we meet in. We

had both English and Spanish versions going because our branch is both languages. I mostly

watched in English. The Spanish version goes really fast so it was a little difficult to keep up. I

loved to hear the talks and especially President Nelsen. The branch brought food on Sunday

and we got to spend time enjoying the members, the food and messages.

We use the Book of Mormon a lot (of course), but we are using the Bible a little more. We are

using the Bible to teach prophesy and apostasy. It has strengthened my testimony of the

Restoration and truth of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.

This is a screen shot of a video I took just leaving our apartment. The beach is just on the

other side of the road.
