Trip To Philadelphia
Greetings from the Bronx. It has been a busy couple of weeks. We haven’t had any baptisms but have some people on date for this week and the first part of November. Last week I went to Manhattan. I feel like I’ve been there and done that. The group I went with have all been before, so I didn’t have to play tour guide.
On Saturday I went to Philadelphia to the temple. The Manhattan Temple is closed for renovation so the closest is Philly. I was invited to go due to one of my recent converts getting his endowments out. This was a person I baptized in Queens, so we were invited to attend. It took a little over two hours to travel there by bus. We didn’t get to do any sight seeing while there. It was a great experience to go through an endowment, see the Philadelphia Temple and support a new member. I haven’t had the opportunity to attend the temple for about 9 months when I was able to do baptisms for the dead in the Manhattan Temple. I haven’t been through an endowment session since the MTC in Mexico City. I have had the blessing on my mission to have attended the Mexico City Temple, Hartford Connecticut Temple, Manhattan Temple and the Philadelphia Temple.
Transfers are this week. I am assuming I will be in a trio for my last two weeks because I am not leaving on my regular day. It will be interesting to see how this will work out. I would be coming home this Friday if not for the two week extension. I can’t believe my mission is coming to an end. I am looking forward to seeing everyone one yet will miss the full time work.
Thinking back on my temple experiences, I testify of the blessings of temple attendance. President Nelsen gave this promise in the April General Conference. “My dear brothers and sisters, here is my promise. Nothing will help you more to hold fast to the iron rod than worshipping in the temple as regularly as your circumstances permit. Nothing will protect you more as you encounter the world’s mists of darkness. Nothing will bolster your testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement or help you understand God’s magnificent plan more. Nothing will soothe your spirit more during times of pain. Nothing will open the heavens more. Nothing!”
I testify his promises to be true.
