Good Week

Image
Its has been a good week and also a pretty fast week one as well. Last week we didn't teach that many lessons but this week we have been teaching a lot more which is good. Our friend Robert is getting baptized this weekend on Sunday so that's awesome he has invited his family and stuff to come so they will all see it. He is super busy and we have had to teach him the deli that he manages so it's a different environment for sure. We also go over to this deli that he runs and he gives us free food and drinks all the time because we are really good friends he is super awesome. Its kind of cold here but their is no snow and it mostly rains. We had some really cool people come to church yesterday and they really like the members and the feeling and they have said that it feels different and real and bright so its super cool to see them see the difference between this church and other churches. We have people from Chile, Domincan Republic, Venezuela, México, Guatemala, Cuba, Nica...

Fast Week

Image
This week has gone by pretty quick so its crazy that its Monday again. So this week my comp and I started out really strong with finding to people to teach and had some cool experiences while finding people. So my comp and I where out doing our normal parking lot finding and these three girls come up to us on Valentines Day and said that they really liked and appreciated what we are doing and they bought us a bunch of snacks like chips, gummy bears and water and just handed it to us so we were really thankful for them, super awesome. They were probably in their 20's but they said they had their own church but super nice people. I was talking to a guy whose name was Oscar and he was interested in what I was teaching him in fact he wanted us to go and teach his family at his house so it was super cool. But he was working and so the lesson didn't happen but we will reschedule. Last week we taught a guy who named Robert and he came to church this week which is really awesome and we...

Transfer 2 Week 2

Image
It has been a busy week this past week but it has been good. We had the opportunity to go to Zone Confernce this week on Friday and hear from our mission president, President Holmes and his wife. He shared his testimony on Joseph Smith and it was super powerful and the spirt was super strong it was awesome! After that because our mission hit our goals we watched a movie. We watched "I can only Imagine" and the story behind the guy who wrote that song. I have seen the movie before but I forgot how sad but also joyful it was, it was a good movie. My companion and I have been working hard this week and were able to see some crazy miracles. We got to baptize the father of a part member member. For a while he wasn't interested but we taught him how important baptism was, and his wife and daughter were baptized and they incouraged him too. So we taught him on Thursday and he was baptized on Saturday. But what's crazy was their wedding anniversary was Feb 11 which was when w...

New Transfer!

Image
This week is the first week of my second transfer. I got a new companion Elder Truman and he is a good missionary. It's different for sure to have a new companion but we have a lot of things in common. It has been a little but of a crazy week because of change but overall it was good. The past few days have been really cold and windy here like 5 degrees and -10 wind chill with a little snow but it has been warming up so that's good. We have been teaching a family of 5 from Ecuador that's been in the US for only a month. They will get baptized soon and they have a lot of friends in the ward so it's only a matter of time. Another guy we are going to teach is named Manuel. We sent him a text last year in like October for the church time but he never came. In January he showed up at the last year's time but it was the English wards time. But we talked to him and told him that the Spanish ward was at 11:00am and not 9:00am. So he was a little miracle and now we have a ti...

End Of First Transfer

Image
This transfer was longer than a normal transfer it was 7 weeks instead of 6. My Spanish has improved since I first got here but i still have a ways to go but it's fine. My companion is leaving to Burmuda so I am going to get a new companion to finish out my training for this second transfer. This transfer has been tough but a really good learning experience for me and I have noticed how much I have grown in only a month and a half. The ward had an activity about Lehi's vision in the Book of Mormon and the ward cut down a tree and put it in the gym at the church so it was cool. Me and my companion played parts in it. He was Nephi and I was Lemuel. It was fun to do and bond with the ward members. This past week has been hard for me and my companion for finding people to teach but God saw our efforts and we had a miracle yesterday. So a guy we taught really liked the gospel and the restoration and even passed his baptism interview. But he had friends going to another church so we ...

Week Idk

Image
These past two weeks have been really busy so sorry I didn't get an email out earlier. So kind of a crazy story but when I was at the church last Sunday my ZL needed my phone for a second and he left it on a table at the church. And before my companion and I were about to leave we went to go grab it but it wasn't there. So we started looking for it around the church but after like 20mins of searching it was no where to be found. Luckily this phone was the one the mission gave me and I had a phone my parents sent me at my apartment so we just had to set the other one up. The problem was I couldn't remember my church account password so I couldn't set up the new phone. So I called up the tech help desk in SLC and we got it all figured out by the end of Monday. So I didn't have time to write an email my bad. We ended up getting a call from a member later in the week whose kid took the phone thinking it was their parents but we got the phone back now. We have our first ...

Week 4

Image
Was just kind of a normal week not a ton happened. Some things that stuck out to me was we taught a guy who was from Columbia and he came all the way up to the United States for work and more money because his mom has cancer and he trying to make the payments for her treatments. So that really humbled me that he would come all the way for his mother his family so he was a really cool guy. There are a lot of immigrants here that come for a better life and It's been really humbling to me. The weather here has been pretty much the same just cold and rainy. We had interviews with President Holmes and he is really awesome and is a very driven and motivated person but also really loving and patient so he is a really good guy. It's been a pretty normal week not too much has happened. And the picture is the Hartford, CT temple but I haven't been there yet but I want too.
